Elegance personified! This ANTIQUE Circa 1900’s carving is one of the finest that OHF has ever offered! The chest measures at 16″ in width. OHF’s pickers found this chest in Belgium. Probably Swiss or German origin from the early 1900’s. It features two hand carved pheasants atop a raised tiered top. The wooden box is carved and finished on all sides and has been professionally restored to near original condition. The interior top has the original blue fabric. The bottom of the box interior has been restored with a similar blue velvet like covering replacing the original worn fabric. Exquisite 19th century Black Forest lamp with wood carved sculpture. Likely a Swiss Brienz carving with carvers initials on backside. This large 15″ H pheasant sculpture was carved from a solid piece of wood (base is separate piece) coming to us from our pickers wired for a lamp. This intricate and beautiful carving had been previously modified into a lamp configuration. The lamp modification worked so well with the carving that it was kept as a lamp. The original wiring was replaced with an added convenient rotary “on” switch at base. This sculpture has been professionally restored from its original condition. A superb example of a large figure of a bull. Circa late 1800’s. BLACK FOREST from the Swiss Alps region. This magnificent carving came from Lorient France….a city on the west coast of France. Reportedly it had been given to the Grand-Grandfather of the previous owner as a gift for being the mayor of a small city in the French Alps. The bull had been carved in the Swiss Alps around the year 1880 and believed to have been from the Binder Studios.

This incredible hand carving is a good size and would work well as a centerpiece or display accessory. Many of these quality carvings originated from the early to late 1800’s. Carvers or craftsman located around the Swiss village of Brienz were mostly responsible for these hand crafted amazing works of art. The carvings were generally made from Linden wood or Basswood and created by the finest old world craftsmen. This Flora & Fauna carving depicts two long tailed pheasants on each side in a natural setting. the carving measures approx. 12″L x 9″W x 10″H. The top of the carving has a hallowed out shallow oval bowl for display as shown a dried flower arrangement that was added to enhance the naturalistic setting.
